On May 8 and 9, the 34th Annual Palliative Care Congress of the Quebec Palliative Care Association took place at the Quebec Convention Center. This event brought together hundreds of professionals from the health, social, research and community sectors, gathered around the theme “Palliative care and communities: here and elsewhere.”
A central challenge: co-construction
On this occasion, Alexandra Sabin, founder of Siaana Tech, presented a scientific poster entitled:
“Organizational and technological innovation: co-building simple and concrete solutions for caregivers in palliative care”.
Co-construction, at the heart of this presentation, is much more than a participatory method:
it is a collaborative process that mobilizes experiential, professional and scientific knowledge to design sustainable solutions that are adapted and deeply rooted in the realities of the field.
Much more than a project management methodology, co-construction is a strategic lever that promotes the ownership of solutions and significantly increases the chances of project success.
The example of ANAAIS: a living model
Through the example of the platform ANAAIS, the poster highlighted a solution co-developed with caregivers, relays, researchers, health professionals and community managers.
Its objective?
Deploy a punctual relay service, at home, provided by trained workers, accessible via a user-friendly mobile application.
More than a technological tool, ANAAIS is a decentralized organizational model, adaptable by each community according to its needs, resources and local partners (palliative care, community settings, researchers, etc.).
Fundamental values for an authentic approach
Co-construction is not based only on methods, but on shared values.
We do not co-build with anyone, or under any conditions: it is essential to surround yourself with partners who share the same goals and a shared vision of the project.
This approach is based on core values that guarantee its quality and scope:
🔸 Confidence
🔸 Ethics
🔸 Listen
🔸 Respect for expertise and knowledge
🔸 Horizontality of roles
These principles are the foundations of real, sincere and lasting collaboration.
