From Our Aspirations to Reality: Views on Black Entrepreneurship

4th Pan-Canadian Summit of Black Communities — January 31 to February 2, 2025, Palais des Congrès de Montréal

As part of the 4th Pan-Canadian Summit of Black Communities, organized by the Michaëlle Jean Foundation, a panel entitled “From Our Aspirations to Reality: Views on Black Entrepreneurship” brought together entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds to share their experiences, the challenges they have overcome and their vision for the future.

Co-hosted by Tamara Chanoine, director of the Black Entrepreneurs Program at Futurpreneur, and Nicole Antoine, CEO of N/A&CO and Four Brown Girls, the panel highlighted the journeys of:

  • Jean-Hamilton Philippe, president of Goodshop Canada, co-founder of Charlie2go Inc., and G20 delegate for Futurpreneur
  • Alexandra Sabin, founder of Siaana Tech
  • Michele Pouani, founder and owner of KAMALI

The intervention ofAlexandra Sabin focused on the links between social innovation, technology and community roots, stressing the importance of building high-impact entrepreneurial models, driven by values of equity, collaboration and collective transformation.

This panel was part of a rich program of more than 130 speakers, addressing various themes such as the economy, education, social justice and entrepreneurship. The Summit brought together nearly 1,500 participants, including many young people, in particular through the “Youth in Power” initiative of the Michaëlle Jean Foundation, which supports community projects run by young people of African descent.

The Pan-Canadian Summit of Black Communities continues to be an essential event for change makers, promoting the advancement of initiatives and the strengthening of collaborations.
