On October 31, 2024, St. Mary's Hospital Research Center (CRSM) organized a community conference focused on co-creating solutions to meet the needs of caregivers and seniors. Speaker Alexandra Sabin shared her personal and professional journey, highlighting the challenges caregivers face, including financial barriers, the emotional pressure of caring for a loved one, and the social and cultural norms that make it difficult to ask for and accept help.
Alexandra also emphasized the importance of co-creation to bring together relevant actors in order to develop more effective respite services. She emphasized the fact that caregivers rarely use respite periods, due to the many barriers that exist. The integration of technological and structured solutions could facilitate access to this type of indispensable support.
The CRSM expressed its pride in facilitating this crucial discussion and its commitment to strengthening collaborations with the community to better support caregivers. This event, made possible thanks to the generous support of the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, marks an important step in creating innovative and accessible services.
